In regard to motive I shall say little. High professions of disinterestedness in an author's preface, seldom obtain implicit credence; and that for the best possible reason, they seldom deserve it. I should be pleased with a com pensation for my labour, and hepe that the public will find in the utnlitv of the work, an equivalent for the expense i costs them.
