I.F.F. VII, 360 No.1, for the original state. Later state, published after Dubosc's death. Claude Dubosc or Du Bosc was a Paris engraver, who went to England in 1712. John Boydell (1719-1804) was the leading London print publisher of his time. - Good impression. Lightly browned, small stain in blank lower left corner. Trimmed to the plate-mark at lower margin, small margins at three other sides. Collector's stamp on verso of 'Grossh. Museum zu Schwerin' (Lugt No. 2273).[(5828)].

Die Dargestellte ist Elisabet…h Tuchet Castlehaven, Tochter von Grey Brydges, 5th Baron Chandos; verheiratet mit ihrem Stiefbruder, James Tuchet (1617-1684), 3rd Earl of Castlehaven. Verso mit dem Stempel der Sammlung F. Quiring, Eberswalde (Lugt 1041 c) . - Um 1649/62 war Lombard in London tätig, er setzte seine Arbeit in Paris fort und war ab 1673 Mitglied in der Pariser Akademie. Die Folge der Gräfinnen nach van Dyck zählt zu den bekanntesten Arbeiten, die während Lombards Schaffenszeit in England entstanden (Thieme-Becker). - Wenige minimale Braunfleckchen.
