Paper Wrappers. Condition: Good. No Jacket. In Hebrew. 96 pages. 226 x 150 mm. Wrappers chipped and detached. Pages yellowed. "New corrected edition" Moshe Breslavsky (January 9, 1903 Poltava, Russia (Ukraine) - November 1, 1961 Kibbutz Na'an, Israel) wrote the Hana Szenes biography, which became a best seller, and a series of books on the history of the labor movement in Eretz Israel. His older brother, Joseph Breslavsky, was the prominent researcher on the history and geography of Eretz Israel. He, his brother and their parents immigrated to Eretz Israle in 1905 and settled in Jaffa (Yafo), where the father had a hostel on the Jaffa-Jerusalem road. Unlike most neighborhood children, who studied in Heder in Yiddish, Moshe and his brother were taught in Hebrew, with a private tutor from Jaffa. Later he attended the "Takhkemoni" religious-Zionist school and later still the "Ezra" school and the Herzliya Gymnasium. After returning from the expulsion from Jaffa (by the Turks in World War I), he completed his studies at the Gymnasium. After graduation he worked in agriculture. In 1925 he joined Kibbutz Beit Alpha in the Jezreel Valley. In 1929 he went on a mission to Hehalutz in Germany, and in early 1930 moved to Poland, where he worked in Zionist education and encouraged Jews to immigrate to Israel as agricultural pioneers. During the mission he became acquainted with the leaders of Hakibbutz Hameuchad, and when he returned to Israel in 1933, he joined Kibbutz Na'an of the movement. Where he remained until his death. Large octavo, 21 issues, pictorial wrappers, stapled. A broken run of 21 issues from October 1956 to November 1961, missing April 1960 (volume 2, number 6) and January 1961 (volume 3, number 1). Critics of the British Interplanetary Society bimonthly JOURNAL were divided into two camps, those who considered it too technical and those who considered it not technical enough. The society's response was "we must have two publications, the JOURNAL and a more popular magazine, the new STARFLIGHT . to give our readers a picture of the research now going on, as well as discussing related historical and astronomical matters." Some covers rubbed, first issue has vertical mailing crease, all good to very good copies. Extra postage may be required. (#173486).
