Chipping to corners; head and tail of spine. Rear board detached. Six compartments with gilt detail, five raised bands. Text block seperated into two sections at middle of book. Pages 345-360 are loose. AEG. Marbled endpapers. Ex-library stamps and markings. Frontis is a portrait of Jean de La Fontaine. A couple stray marks, otherwise interior pages are clean, unmarked and in excellent condition. Filled with beautiful of Gustave Dore engravings. Dore worked primarily with wood and steel engraving and is best known for his illustrations of Paradise Lost, The Divine Comedy, The Raven, and his pieces in Illustrated London News. Jean de La Fontaine is the famed French fabulist and is best known for his Fables. Please feel free to view our pictures.
