Unpaginated, sixty pages, complete. Several black-and-white illustrations (mostly in-text, a few on plates) showing the characters of Buster Brown, his dog Tige, and Buster's girlfriend, Mary Jane. Contents listed in front. Pages are very clean and intact except for discoloration on front and back endpapers, small occasional marks or stains, and light age toning throughout. Covers are very clean and intact except for darkening along spine, a few smudges, and slight wear to extremities. A Very Good copy. A collection of humorous "resolutions" containing witty sayings and life advice from R. F. Outcault's character, Buster Brown, a mischievous well-to-do boy who pulls all sorts of pranks and frequently gets into trouble. He is sometimes accompanied by his pet pit bull, Tige. Mary Jane, Buster's girlfriend, makes a few appearances in this book. Buster's advice appears to be aimed toward younger boys and instructs them on how to be good individuals. Please note: one of the resolutions includes one instance of the N-- word. Example of one Buster's resolutions: "Resolved: That music hath charms--the psychological secret of religious fervor is music--there ought to be good money in music (that's American); with money we can be generous and good. The richer we are the more generous we can be and the better we can be: And of course the happier--because to be good and generous is the only way to be happy. It is awful to see people with nothing but money. Buster Brown." Richard F. Outcault (1863-1928) was an American cartoonist and pioneer of the modern comic strip. He is perhaps best-known for his comic strip series, The Yellow Kid and Buster Brown.

This is the autobiography of Tiger "Tige" Brown, a fictional pit bull terrier and the pet of Buster Brown. Buster Brown is a mischievous, upper-class boy who is good-natured but gets into all sorts of trouble. Buster made his debut on May 4, 1902 in the New York Herald. The Buster Brown comic strip series and characters of Buster and Tige were made by Richard F. Outcault (1863-1928), an American cartoonist. Outcault was a pioneer of the early modern comic strip and is sometimes credited as being its inventor. In Tige's autobiography, Tige recounts his life to the present, at which point he says he is middle-aged, beginning with his days as a pup on a farm in Ohio. The owner of the farm, Grandma, has a daughter named Emily who eventually brings her newborn son to the farm to meet everyone. Tige recounts his first meeting with Buster as a baby and knew immediately they would be friends for life. For the rest of the book, Tige recollects several of his and Buster's antics and misadventures. They get into all sorts of mischief such as Buster riding a pig, Buster playing various pranks, Tige being bitten by a turtle, Tige chasing cats, and both of them sitting in glue and the hilarious results. Buster's girlfriend, Mary Jane, also makes an appearance. Tige finishes with thoughts about dog heaven.
