Samuel Sharp (1700-1778) commença ses études de médecine avec Cheselden, avant de venir se perfectionner à Paris. Il fut l'un des plus grands chirurgiens britanniques de son temps, et célèbre pour son Traité sur les opérations de chirurgie, publié en 1739, la première étude britannique axée exclusivement sur les techniques opératoires.
