Taschenbuch. Condition: Neu. Druck auf Anfrage Neuware - Printed after ordering - Scientific computing is a fast growing and fast changing area whose applications to various branches of science, engineering, medicine, economics (and others) are increasing in number and relevance every day. There are two main reasons (among others) that make scientific computing change so rapidly. One is the increasing number of different research areas beginning to make use of numerical simulation: from nanotechnology to genomics, from computer aided diagnosis and operations in medical applications (which involve often com plete simulations of parts of the human body) to economics and finance. Each new application, and each new aspect of earlier applications, draws heavily on the know how that has been acquired on other problems with similar mathematical features. It has to be pointed out that the lofty perspective of mathematics succeeds quite often in finding connections among very different phenomena, that tum out in the end to share the same mathematical and numerical structure. In tum, new applica tions contribute to the cross-fertilization by 'sending back' new interpretations and suggestions which are often useful in more classical applications. All this creates a resonance effect that contributes greatly to the growth rate of the whole field.…

Sumhuram: the becoming of the town Khor Rori Report 4 A cura di Vittoria Buffa Arabia Antica - Archaeological and Philological Series, 16 2019, 292 pp. Brossura, 24 x 28 cm ISBN: 9788891318978 ISSN: 2612-372X Language . English text Con 2 pieghevoli in tasca / Includes Two Inserts The port of Sumhuram was founded by the ruler of the kingdom of Hadramawt, more than 700 km from the capital, Shabwa, on the shore of the Indian Ocean, in nowadays Dhofar (Sultanate of Oman), a land famous for frankincense. This site has been under investigation by the Italian Mission to Oman (IMTO), under the direction of Alessandra Avanzini, for more than twenty years. The Report 4 volume presents the results of three different subjects of research, spanning from the presentation of the excavation of a "residential complex", to the study of the very numerous bronze coins found in the city, to the analysis of the data available, allowing for the reconstruction of the history of the town in its chronological development from the 2nd century BC to the 5th century AD, through the study of ceramics and coins. Special attention is given to the very first period of occupation of the town, of which we had very few attestations until recently. …

Fine map of Sebastopol showing the early military stages and formations of the Crimean War. With letterpress text providing military and geographical information. The war in Crimea took place in 1854-1855 and saw the Russian Imperial army oppose the allied troops of France, Britain and the Ottoman Empire in a series of battles that culminated in the famous siege of Sebastopol (Sevastopol) in the winter of 1854 and the subsequent defeat of the Russian Army. The historical event has been immortalised in the work of several artists and writers such as Leo Tolstoy, who served in the war and later wrote Sevastopol Sketches, three short stories based on his first hand experience of the Siege. Lithographed map (42x53.5 cm), partially coloured; slightly creased, minor foxing, minor tear to the centrefold.…
