Mit beiden verband ihn lebenslang eine tiefe Freundschaft, mit beiden korrespondierte er. Rilke widmete ihm die achte Duineser Elegie; beide hielten Kassner zeitweise für den hellsichtigsten Kulturphilosophen der Gegenwart.
