Illustrations include thirty-two black-and-white photograph plates, some of which were taken by the Earl of Mayo, as well as five colour folding maps.The topographical survey is divided into two parts, the first being the general survey of existing conditions, while the second part concerns recommendations for the area. Chapter headings include 'Towns and Villages', 'Bridges', 'Landscape Character', and 'Special Areas to be Preserved'.Prepared by The Earl of Mayo, S. D. Adshead and Patrick Abercrombie, with assistance from W. Harding Thompson, a member of the Thames Valley Branch of the Council for the Preservation of Rural England.Collated, complete.
