Hardcover. Condition: Good. The previous owner's name is written to the top of the first end paper and the top outside edge has foxing from age. Several pages are underlined and there is some wrinkling on the bottom corner of the last 2/3s of the book but the text is still readable. The jacket is clean and bright but shows signs of rubbing. The spine is strong and the binding is tight. A good solid copy.

A commissioned history of The South African College (from its founding in 1829) at the time of its elevation to the University of Cape Town (in 1916). The book reference refers to both volumes. Both volumes are stamped 112 to the top right hand corner of the frontispages. Both have a previous owner signature inside the front cover. The blue board covers marked, stained and worn from handling and storage. The gilt printing and emblem are bright and clean. The covers are strong, stoic, dignified. The spines are grubby. The title printing is visible. There is wear to the head and foot of both spines. Inside, the contents are very tight and sure against the binding. The papertrims are foxed.
