Der Fotografie von Kristallen hingegen wurde bislang nur wenig Beachtung geschenkt, obwohl renommierte Fotografen d…er Neuen Sachlichkeit wie Albert Renger-Patzsch, Aenne Biermann, Paul Wolff, Fred Koch oder Paul Dobe nach der Welt der Pflanzen auch die Welt der Minerale und Kristalle entdeckten - und deren so noch nie betrachtete Schönheit enthüllten. Für diese Fotografen stellte die Kristallefotografie ein von der organischen Form der Pflanze ausgehendes Vordringen in das Reich der Anorganika dar. Biermann starb 1933, vor Beginn der Verfolgung ihrer Familie durch die Nazis, an einer Leberkrankheit. 1930 veröffentlichte F. Roh die einzige Monographie zu Lebzeiten "Aenne Biermann. 60 Fotos". - Der Jahrgang enthält außerdem noch einen Beitrag von A(lfred) Forbrik. "Arbeiterschaft und Photographie". Viertes Heft.
