Hardcover. Condition: Fine. 1st Edition. Number 120 of 150 copies handset in Kennerley, printed on Gunny [jute & cotton] paper. 11 samples of paper tipped-in. Quarter rust cloth, jute cotton over boards, with block-printed endpapers designed by Barbara Bliss. A fine copy. Eleven papers are represented, one from the nineteenth-century, the rest contemporary. Nigel Macfarlane helped in the revival of the manufacture of these papers at Khadi in India.

Nine different papers from Nepal and Bhutan, sewn in three sections with paper wrapper, the whole being housed in a specially made portfolio with red cotton ties. Handset in Kennerley with 19 Nepali motifs , most printed in a second colour. Number 10 of 108 copies. Fine condition. 'As the papers were all of varying size they had to be folded and cut by hand before I began. I printed each sheet doubled with a sheet of 'Yellow Pages' inside to absorb any ink that might go through to the paper. I lost a number of letters from when they hit bits of rock, bark or charcoal, but apart from tthat had no trouble printing. The type area for each page for delibarately varied to avoid the need for accurate registration, which would have been impossible with such irregular edges to the paper.' (B19).

Copy number '67' of an edition limited to 150 copies hand set in 14pt Kennerley and printed on an Arab Foolscap Folio treadle platen. 130 gsm. Gunny (jute & cotton) waterleaf paper, sewn in four sections and quarter bound in rust cloth and Gunny covered boards. Decorated endpapers printed with a design by Barbara Bliss on Islamic Sunn Hemp paper made by Bundo in Sanganir. Samples of eleven different papers tipped in. Oblong Quarto, 195 x 270 mm, pp. [48]. The Gunny and Indian paper samples were made at the Sri Aurobindo Mill in Pondicherry. A book in Fine condition. Alembic Press Bibliography: B32.
