Schedl), wood-engraved historiate and foliate capital initials in both red and black. Contemporary red morocco with richly ornate gilt floral designs on covers and spine, edges gilt; spine end and corners repaired. An attractive rococo missal with elaborate contemporary gilt floral binding. The work bears a short dedicatory preface by the publishers and reference to the Papal Bull of Pius V. The illustrations depict biblical stories and allegorical representations of the Virgin s life, the extra title is a fine interpretation of God appearing to Adam and Eve in the garden with the serpent, the engraver Westerhout has dedicated the work to Ferdinand, Prince of the Etruscans.
