Medico triestino di famiglia cattolica albanese, Giovanni Alessandro Goracuchi lasciò opere in italiano, francese e tedesco; viaggiò molto per mare quale medico di bordo e fu diplomatico per l'impero austro-ungarico nell'Albania ottomana a Scutari, luogo d'origine della sua famiglia. In occasione dell'Esposizione industriale e agricola triestina del 1882 pubblicò in francese un'affettuoso ritratto della città, Attraits de Trieste; raccolse poi componimenti in versi e prosa in tre Ecloghe per gli anni 1878, 1879 e 1886. In questa ultima raccolta il conte alterna propri scritti a estratti e poesie di autori classici e contemporanei in francese, italiano, inglese e tedesco; pièce de résistance del volume è la memoria intitolata COURMAYEUR NELLA VALLE D'AOSTA ED ESCURSIONE INTORNO AL MONTE BIANCO E SUL GRAN SAN BERNARDO che occupa poco più di quaranta pagine al centro della strenna. Il conte Goracuchi descrive con ammirata dovizia di particolari le meraviglie di Courmayeur e del circondario, i reperti d'epoca romana, ecc; spende molte parole sulle fonti termali (Pré-Saint-Didier, La Saxe, la Vittoria, la Margherita); aggiorna il lettore sulla costruzione della strada reale di caccia in Valsavaranche e sulle recenti pubblicazioni di Aubert e di Amé Gorret e Claude Bich; offre notizie sulle miniere, sulle risorse agricole, sulla caccia; descrive gli alberghi (Hôtel de l'Ange, Royal, de l'Union, du Mont-Blanc); illustra numerose escursioni e salite al Fréty, il Col du Géant, il Crammont ecc.
