For several decades this title was a standard guidebook to the ruins of Persepolis from its first edition in 1954. Ali-Sami Shirazi (1910-89), teacher and archaeologist, was the director of the site, 1941-61. ARCHAEOLOGY PERSIA ARCHAEOLOGY MIDDLE EAST 20TH CENTURY ILLUSTRATED ARCHAEOLOGY.
