Paterson and H. Harral Sc. The book is small 4to or wide 8vo, 8.4x6.8 inches, in half black calf, rubbed, and marbled boards, much rubbed. Parting at the spine, so that the front board is nearly detached; the back hinge is cracked and the split extends about 2inches from the top. Spine has raised bands with trace of gilding, loss of top section, and of part of title label. Contents- foxed at epp, and slightly soiled here and there. Owner's name on endpaper. Juliana Horatia Ewing (1841-1885) was an English writer of children's stories. This novel tells the story of the early life of Margaret Vandaleur, who is taken in by a kind relative after her mother passes away. In the publisher's original pictorial paper boards. Externally very smart. Small losses to the head and tail of the backstrip, which is also sunned. A little age toning to the extremities of the boards. Offsetting to the end papers. Pages are generally bright and clean apart from a small mark to the title page. Very Good. book.
