Add to basketHardcover. Condition: Near Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition. Angelo Bonfanti was an Italian painter, born in Bergamo, where he spent most of his life, in 1917. I am pleased to present this book for your consideration, which discusses various periods of his life. He first became known as a "fresco" painter, for local churches and public buildings. He also clearly did portrait painting. As he got older, he turned to work in his studio with more limited undertaking then frecos. This book I believe is the catalogue of an exhibition of his work held at Centro Culturale S. Bartolomeo, presumably in Bergamo, although the book and hence the Exhibition, is undated. The book is all in Italian but is signed by the Artist on the front endpaper. Condition: This book is in very good condition. The dust jacket is bright and still glossy but price-clipped. The hard covers are clean and bright and unbumped. Inside, the pages and plates are bright and clean with bright white and vivid colors. Both hinges are intact and the binding is tight and sound. This book is not ex-library or a remainder. Angelo Bonfanti (illustrator). Inscribed by Illustrator(s).…

Lugduni Batavorum 1617. Ex Officina Godefridi Basson. (15 x 9,5 cm), k. [4], s. 107, współopr., opr. psk. z epoki (naprawiana). 1. Pracował jako lekarz nadworny i wykładowca chemii, m.in. w Hadze, Oldenburgu i Rostocku. Jest autorem licznych traktatów medyczno-chemicznych, Stan dobry. Rzadkie.…

(oraz) - Exegesis Chymiatrica Andreae Tentzelii Greuss. Phil. & Med. D. Erfurt (1618). Impensis Johannis Birckneri. (15 x 9,5 cm), k. [3], s. 102, współopr., opr. perg. wtórna. 1. Opisem „trzech lekarstw bezoardycznych" (Ternarius Bezoardicorum) - czyli specyfików uznawanych w tradycyjnej medycynie za skuteczne przeciw zatruciom i chorobom, często nazywanych „antidotami" (bezoary). W omawianym dodatku brak kilku ostatnich kart, 12 ostatnich kart z ubytkami marginesów, ślady kornika. Add to basketSecond(?) edition of a rare treatise on the use of bezoar stones (hardened accumulations of matter - often partly hair - taken from the gut of a goat or other animal) as a universal antidote to poisons, by Angelo Sala (1576-1637), an Italian chemist and Paracelsist doctor, who seems to have belonged to the circle of Michael Maier in The Hague. The word "bezoar" derives from the Persian for "antidote" and Islamic medical treatises had discussed them since the 12th century. Around 1610 Sala became personal physician to a cousin of William of Orange, Count Johann Ludwig von Nassau, whom he followed in the Protestant camp in the Upper Palatinate. In 1612 he settled in The Hague, where he worked as a doctor and taught German, French, English and chemistry. Sala's experiments with silver salts, moreover, laid the foundations for the development of the photographic process. The present edition is the first book by Sala that Govert Basson in Leiden published. Bögels states (in error?) that it is "a reprint of two earlier Geneva editions", but we find no Geneva edition of this title, which can also appear with the spelling "bezoarticorum". WorldCat does record a single copy of a 1613 Erfurt edition, and in the same year Sala published a different book at Geneva.
