In December 1915 an armoured car unit of the Royal Naval Air Service, commanded by Commander Oliver Locker Lampson (1880-1954), embarked for Russia to fight alongside the armies of the Czar. During the next three years the conditions in which the unit served varied from the frozen wastes of the Arctic to the searing heat of Trans-Caucasia and the rain-drenched mud of the Danube delta. It fought in Russia, Asia Minor, Persia, Rumania and Austria. This book tells the story of the armoured car unit and it's commanding officer, Oliver Locker Lampson. The book is bound in the original dark green boards with gold titling on the spine. The book is in excellent condition and the contents are tight and clean with no inscription. The unclipped dustwrapper has some shelf wear with rubbing to the spine ends and some light dents near the bottom of the rear spine edge. The spine is yellowed and there is more noticeable yellowing to about 1" of the spine edge and 2" of the top edge of the back of the wrapper.
