Er erzählte die "Märchen aus Malula" in neuer Fassung, die ursprünglich von den Orientalisten Eugen Prym und Albert Socin im Jahre 1869 in Malula aufgezeichnet und von Gotthelf Bergsträsser im Jahr 1915 erstmals veröffentlicht wurden. Durch die vorliegende Publikation wird den phantastischen Märchen und lebensweltlichen Geschichten, die inzwischen von und über die Bewohner des Dorfes Malula existieren, eine weitere Erzählung hinzugefügt. Unsere Erzählungen unterscheiden sich in einigen grundlegenden Aspekten von den bislang vorhandenen Erzählungen: wir werden aus europäischer Sicht mit Unterstützung der Bewohner von Malula über das Dorf und seine Bewohner berichten, dabei werden die Menschen über sich und ihr Dorf erzählen. Die vielen unsystematischen Kenntnisse der Autoren über das Dorf und seine Menschen ließen schließlich die Idee entstehen, das Dorf Malula und die M'alloy selbst zum "Gegenstand" von Erzählungen zu machen, die sich mit der Gestaltung der Siedlung Malula durch die M'alloy und deren Alltag in Malula beschäftigen. Bei drei gemeinsamen Aufenthalten in den Jahren 1993, 1994 und 1997 zeichneten wir 89 qualitative Interviews mit Bewohnern und Repräsentanten des Dorfes auf.
