Condition, very good and all complete. This issue contains many interesting short stories and articles, profusely illustrated throughout. Some contributions include, Can The Dead Communicate with the living?, with an answer by Arthur Conan Doyle and Edward Clood, as advertised to front cover. Other authors include Sapper (Detective stories of the trenches), Britten Austin, Barry Pain and many more. There is also a half page notice of the up and coming Sherlock Holmes story to be soon published , His Last Bow. [Literary Magazine] FIRST APPEARANCES. Three magazines. Octavo (27 x 19cm), pp.50; 209-312; 51-58; pp.50; 313-416; 51-58; pp.40; 417-512; 41-48. Liberally illustrated in black and white throughout. Publisher's blue paper covers, titled in red and navy, and priced at 7d. Presented in a navy quarter morocco felt-lined clamshell box, with raised bands and gilt titles to spine, and blue cloth over sides. Quite heavy wear to spine of number 315, with some loss to head and tail. Otherwise, fairly light wear with the expected toning to war economy-standard paper. Rare in the original covers. Very good. This collection contains all three parts of Jepson's Detective mystery, based on a prematurely retired Anglo-Indian police officer who decides to join a private detective agency on his return to London. Also containing 'The Battle of Richebourg-Festubert' and 'The Battle of Loos' from Doyle's series 'The British Campaign in France and Flanders,' as well as the war-time adventure 'The Man-Trap' by "Sapper," and Wodehouse's 'Jeeves and the Unbidden Guest' and 'Uneasy Money' chapters XI-XXI.

Publisher's pale blue cloth with black and gilt titles to spine, and black titles and decoration to upper. Some toning and spotting to first and final few leaves, with some weakness to rear hinge, otherwise internally clean. Moderate general wear to cloth, with toning and rubbing to spine. Good. Notable for the first appearances of a Sherlock Holmes story and a Jeeves and Wooster story, with many other fine articles and tales.
