The articles were first published in the Sydney Daily Telegraph and among the issues he raises is that of race: "As the years go on the racial question will be increasingly important to the white races bordering the Pacific. How long will it be before Australia must face the political questions her geographical position and immigration must inevitably evolve?" He concludes: "The present peril to the world's commercial progress is from the East, and perhaps industrially near, and that peril is the danger of virile brains, cheap labour, industry and competition."
