Condition: Good. 22 x 17 inches. Monochrome offset on tan paper, before the later color commercialized version. Pinholes in corners. Piece missing in lower margin.Peg Averill's drawings, accompanied by lively, politically-charged slogans, were mobilised during the anti-war and equality movements of the 1960s and 1970s. Averill was active in the War Resisters League and also in NOW (National Organization for Women). This poster criticizes both the American armed forces and education system which promote and glorify military action.

First Edition. Original offset lithograph, 56cm x 43cm (22" x 17"); printed in black on white wove stock. Signed in plate, lower left. Mild crease to left edge, with a single short, closed tear; Very Good+. Unbacked. Averill (1949-1993) was a prominent and prolific East Coast artist/activist, known especially for her pacifist and anti-incarceration activism. She founded the Washington, D.C. graphic arts collective "Art For The People" in the early seventies and was an illustrator for Rolling Stone and Liberation News Service among others.

Original lithographed poster, with text and illustration offset printed in three colors on white stock, measuring 43cm x 56cm (17" x 22"). Light wear to extremities, tiny diagonal crease to lower right corner, with some faint foxing at upper margin and on verso; Near Fine. One of seven posters created by Averill (1949-1993) for the War Resisters League. The central image features a childlike figure decked out in military garb from various eras, standing in front of a chalkboard bearing a quote from Eugene Debs. A charming poster with a strong anti-conscription message. OCLC notes a single holding at Northwestern, though we find others at LC and the OMCA. 83038.

Old folds smoothed out, else a bright, very Near Fine example (unbacked). A colorful poster designed by artist and activist Peg Averill (1949-1993), the central image featuring a spinning mandala-cum-roulette wheel with Nixon's face in four spots, with the central component being text that reads "3 more years?" Announces a week-long "Lobby-in" in Washington, DC, February 4-8, 1974. OCLC notes examples held by UVA and U.Kansas, and we note two others held at the Smithsonian and OMCA. 83037.
