Rare original playbill from the September 25, 26 & 27 1964 performances of Marlene Dietrich with Burt Bacharach's Orchestra at the Masonic Auditorium. Octavo, original wrappers. German and American actress Marlene Dietrich remains best known as a fashion icon and for her performances in many Hollywood films, including six iconic roles directed by Josef von Sternberg: Morocco (1930) (her only Academy Award nomination), Dishonored (1931), Shanghai Express and Blonde Venus (both 1932), The Scarlet Empress (1934) and The Devil Is a Woman (1935), Desire (1936) and Destry Rides Again (1939). Its most memorable and most lasting feature is certainly the well-known musical theme, partly scored for Tijuana brass and here represented by a page of the composers original sketch presented to Mankowitz.
