Sehr seltenes biographisch-zeitgeschichtliches Werk des Schriftstellers und Publizisten Gustav Bacherer (1813 - 1850), das er im Alter von erst 25 Jahren verfaßte. Bacherer beteiligte sich rege an der poitischen Diskussion des Vormmärz und war für seine derbe, nicht selten beledigende, stets zuspitzende und analytisch treffsichere Schreibweise bekannt. Im vorliegenden Band porträtiert Bacherer den württembergischen Staatsminister.Johannes von Schlayer (1792 - 1860), der im Zuge der revolutionären Ereignisse des Jahres 1848 zunächst zurücktreten mußte, anschließend von König Wilhelm I. aber erneut zum Innenminister berufen wurde, den württembergischen Schriftsteller und Publizisten ohann Gottfried Pahl (1788 - 1839), der als einer der bedeutendsten Autoren der Spätaufklärung in Württemberg gelten darf, sowie den badischen Politiker Ludwig Georg Winter (1778 - 1938), der als Innenminister maßgeblich die Reformen (Gewerbefreiheit, Pressefreiheit) verantwortete, die Baden zu einem Vorreiter der liberalen Entwicklung innerhalb Deutschlands machten.
