The book consists of five chapters.

De bundel vormt een mooi, wetenschappelijk verantwoord geheel. Wel zijn niet alle artikelen even aantrekkelijk, en zijn sommige auteurs te ver gegaan in hun 'avontuurlijk lezen'. Wanneer de onderzoeker na de bewijsvoering moet toegeven dat ze absoluut niet sluitend is om zijn standpunt te staven, levert dat toch een anticlimax voor de lezer. Niettemin is deze bundel zeker de moeite waard voor wie een een veelzijdig beeld op de Middelnederlandse literatuur wil krijgen. Het vergt wel enige inspanning om alle studies volledig te vatten.
