A rare objet d'art - very much an artist's curio - by Pippo Basile, reproducing elements of an installation first presented the Fuori Salone and at the artist workshop-gallery space Azzardo Art Factory in Milan, Italy, in the early 2000s entitled Le Porte Ludiche [i.e. The Playful Doors] reproducing works by Mimmo Rotella from the 1960s onwards. This installation featured images of torn layers of classic Hollywood film posters superimposed onto doors - palimpsest-like panels with Pop Art aspects. Basile is an artist-craftsman known for producing unique artisan furniture such doors and bookcases inspired by Mimmo Rotella s paintings. This box unfolds, featuring nine slots admitting the cards for upright display. Each card has an openable door slot cut into it. The film posters feature Marilyn Monroe, Charlie Chaplin, Liza Minelli, John Wayne, Sophia Loren, Elizabeth Taylor, etc. Not in OCLC or Copac, and apparently unrecorded.
