Privately produced by the Author (Robin de la Lanne-Mirrlees) in 1965. Inscribed by the Author on the front free end-paper: "Best Wishes/from/Sable Basilisk/ (Robin)/ Private & Confidential". Xerox type copies typescript bound in red buckram with gilt lettering to the spine. Sable Basilisk provided light-hearted advice to Ian Fleming during the period that Fleming was researching the heraldic aspects of OHMSS. The book concludes with the results of research into the Bond family history and a drawing of the Bond coat-of-arms with the motto 'The World is Not Enough'. Robin de la Lanne-Mirrlees was 'Rouge Dragon' at the Royal College of Arms from 1952-1962 and went on to become Richmond Herald until his resignation in 1967. In a letter dated 10 May 1974 Robin de la Lanne Mirrlees states that there are only about half a dozen copies of Sable Basilisk in existence. [Note: OHMSS is dedicated 'For Sable Basilisk Pursuivant and Hilary Bray who came to the aid of the party']. A fine copy (just a hint of fading to the spine (hardly worth mentioning) in the original buckram with the contents also in fine condition. Campbell 11007C1/11007C2. One of the rarest pieces of Bondian ephemera and extremely scarce. Looks very smart in its custom-made acetate protector. Photographs/scans available upon request, Signed by Author.
