(Beylagen). Kl.-4°. Marmor. Pp. d. Zt. mit handschriftl. RTitel und rotem Schnitt. - Erste Ausgabe. - Joh. Rudolph Becker (1736-1815) war Kämmereisekretär und Geschichtsschreiber in Lübeck. Vorliegende "Umständliche Geschichte" gilt als fundierte Beschreibung der Lübecker Historie, reich an Begebenheiten, die an anderer Stelle nicht zu finden sind. Sie hat teils noch den erzählenden Charakter der alten Chroniken, befindet sich jedoch schon an der Schwelle zu den modernen wissenschaftlich nüchternen Darstellungen und ist daher eine Art Bindeglied beider Geschichtsschreibungen. Sie gilt als "bewundernswerte Pionierleistung" (siehe ausführlich Antjekathrin Graßmann in Biogr. Lex. f. Schleswig-Holstein und Lübeck, Bd. 10, S. 26ff). - Die schöne Lübecker Stadtansicht "Lubecca. Lübeck." von Matthäus Merian dem Älteren aus dem Jahre 1641 hier in sehr schöner Erhaltung. Sie ist noch ein Abzug von der alten, ersten Platte (siehe "W" links unterhalb des Randes), bevor sie für spätere Topographien nachgestochen wurde. (Sahlmann 3.16, Rahtgens Nr. 20 und Fauster 8061). - Die schlichteren, marmorierten Pappeinbände der Zeit berieben, Kapitale und Ecken bestoßen. Band I vorderes Außengelenk in unterer Hälfte aufgeplatzt (die Gelenkfunktion nicht betroffen). Innen von sehr guter Erhaltung, nur vereinzelt minimal stockfleckig. - Äußerlich schlichte, jedoch im Gesamteindruck sehr gut erhaltene Ausgabe. - *** 94 Jahre Antiquariat Arno Adler. ***.
