Hardcover. Condition: Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Fair. 1st Edition. States "First published 1955." Not price-clipped -- original price of "16s net" showing to bottom of jacket front flap. There is some rippling (from dampness) to the top half-inch of the blue cloth covering the boards. While this book is complete and holding together well with an attractive, undamaged interior text block, it's "good only" in a "fair" dust jacket which shows water damage to top 2 inches of the jacket rear panel. Thus, this is a reading copy -- not suitable as a gift. Small interior illustration in B&W are by the author, as is the color frontispiece. 189 pp.

Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition. Hardcover, Publisher : London, Chatto & Winduss Ltd, (1936). FIRST EDITION, (VG / VG). Publishers Original Teal-Green Cloth Covered Boards, Gilt Titles To Spine, (Gilt Vignette Trout To Front Cover), 8.1/2" X 5.1/2", 172pp, (B/W Woodcut (trout) To Fep + contains some B/W Vignettes by Roy Beddington., (No Inscriptions). The Dust Jacket Is A Little Chipped At The Edges/Corners, And Is Price Clipped, Else, Quite Presentable In A New (Removable) Protective Sleeve. [Front (inside) Flap] This is a book by a very skilful fisherman, who loves fishing more than catching fish. Although in his time Mr. Sinclair Carr has killed many a salmon and trout, his pleasure here remembered lie in the practice of the art, in experiencing slowly acquired, in the friendship of fishing 'characters' - and even in occasional failures. For he is a modest and truthful angler; and he has another rare gift, that of unemphatic, rather Northern humour, as readers of 'Salfario's' articles know. This book may prove dangerous to the families of anglers, for it will be apt to release a sympathetic flow of reminiscence - perhaps not always quite so entertaining as Mr. Carr's The illustrations and cover-design are the workj of Roy Beddington". Roy Beddington (illustrator).
