Benkowitz on the first page.Loosely inserted: Typed Postcard Signed by Nancy Cunard and dated Dec. 3: about 140 words sent to the editor of the Daily Herald calling for ''the friends of Republican Spain in England'' to send tobacco - ''For months there's been none. Reason: tobacco-growing parts and factories mainly in rebel hands. Try to smoke dried orange leaves and herbs as they do here, never complaining. Remember those in the trenches in world war; we helped them by sending them smokes.'' The postcard was sent from Valencia and has five stamps which have been franked three times. It is impossible to read the franked dates, but presumably the card was sent in 1937.Very good.
