A translation of the title might be: From The Old Factory. It concerns the use of gold in a porcelain factory, and attempts to chemically alter it. The illustration on the binding and title depicts a laboratory scene with a sort of Frankenstein look to it - a scientist studies his test tube while the hunchbacked assistant labors in the background.
