Dies führte zur einstweiligen Absetzung Ernst Thälmanns als Vorsitzenden des ZK der KPD. Nach zwei Wochen war er jedoch wieder im Amt. Zweieinhalb Monate später war Ernst Thälmann politisch voll rehabilitiert und die KPD absolut auf ihn und Stalin orientiert.
