It was Morris' example which sparked off the renaissance in German printing, even if the earliest private presses in that country leant more heavily on Cobden-Sanderson's style. Then, too, Beardsley and the Art Nouveau movement can be said to have led to the establishment of Jugendstil in Germany. We are particularly glad to have the chance of listing more examples of German printing than are usually met with in booksellers' catalogues in the English-speaking world, for we believe that in the period with which we are here concerned much of the best work has emanated from Germany."
