Quarter Leather. Condition: Good+. No Jacket. First Edition. 344 pages, plus hand colored frontispiece and folding map; 367 pages, plus two plates. Twentieth century binding with brown leather over spine and blue cloth over boards. Plain gilt stamped lettering on spines. Covers show light rubbing and scuffs. Folding map shows small closed tear at binding, just entering border, and a misfold along edge. Both volumes remain tight and generally clean, and contents are complete and intact.

Purple cloth with the battalion colour patch (an oval white border - now a little rubbed with some loss of colour - around a purple centre) printed on the front panel; cloth heavily flecked, moderately stained, and a little bumped and worn about the corners and spine; edges and endpapers marked and foxed; light tidemark to the top inside corner of the first ten leaves, and to the top margin of the leaves in the second half of the book; overall, a decent copy. Ownership signatures of M.H. Farrell (12 July 1929) and J.M. Farrell (written at a later date) appear on the front flyleaf. the honour roll includes 2301 Private J.M. Farrell, killed in action in Belgium on 15 October 1917. His service records suggest the signatures are those of his mother and father.
