The front cover says this the Revised and Expanded book while the copyright calls it the Revised and Enlarged 1988 edition. The Contents pages lists Introduction to the First Edition as well as an Introduction to the Revised Edition. This book serves as the standard reference work that sorts out the complex printing history of each of the original forty Oz books by Baum and his six successors. It includes full, clear and concise descriptions of Oz related works by the same authors that conform to general accepted principles of bibliographical description. With 136 photographic illustrations that complement the textual descriptions, making this work helpful to those new to the field. Photographs of all first-state covers and of most significant later covers of the books described in this checklist appear in separate gatherings following page 64. This center section of Plate Photographs is on 32 un-numbered pages in addition to the 146 numbered pages. Photographs of first-state dust jackets are included if they differ significantly from the cover designs. Includes frontispiece portrait of L. Frank Baum.
