Die Arbeiten des Bieler Kollektivs Linus Bill + Adrien Horni (beide *1982, CH) sind das Erg…ebnis eines dynamischen Prozesses, der besonders in der neuesten Werkgruppe Heredity Paintings ersichtlich wird. Angeregt von in der Vergangenheit verworfenen Werken, entnehmen die Künstler diesen Bildern Ausschnitte und übertragen sie auf den Computer. Mit Bildbearbeitungsprogrammen verändern Bill und Horni unabhängig voneinander die fotografierten Bildfragmente und schicken einander die Dateien für die nächsten Arbeitsschritte zu. Sie vertauschen Komplementärfarben, verzerren Formen und experimentieren mit Malwerkzeugen. Sowohl die unbeabsichtigten Effekte durch die digitale Bearbeitung als auch der individuelle Verzicht auf Kontrolle über den künstlerischen Vorgang verweisen auf das Interesse der Künstler am Unvorhergesehenen. Für die Ausstellung haben Bill und Horni aus mehr als 1500 Vorlagen rund zwanzig Varianten ausgewählt, die sie in Malerei und Siebdruck auf Leinwand umgesetzt haben. Zwischen Repetition, Modifikation und Überschichtung erproben die Künstler das Konzept der «Vererbung» (Heredity) und befragen dadurch die Verwandtschaft zwischen den Formen, welche in verschiedenen Bildern auf ungleiche Weise auftreten.
