Although obviously still as important today the contents of the book were especially significant at the time of writing due to a number of major disasters, most significantly the sinking of "Titanic", a tragedy made worse by the shortage of lifeboats. A decent enough copy of this important work. The boards are a little rubbed & stained. The binding is a little strained at the front joint but generally v. clean internally.
