xi, [1], 100pp. Contemporary gilt-tooled calf, morocco lettering-piece, T.E.G. A trifle rubbed. Marbled endpapers, internally clean and crisp. Inked gift inscription to recto of front blank fly-leaf: 'M. F. K. Coleridge / from her loving brother / Christmas. 1871'. A handsome copy, with remarkable provenance, of an English translation (reprinted from an edition published at Paris in 1676) of a devotional manual on good Christian living by Flemish Benedictine monastic reformer and mystical writer Franciscus Ludovicus Blosius (1506-1566), edited, with a preface by John Duke Coleridge (1820-1894), great-nephew of poet Samuel Taylor Coleridge (1772-1834). The present copy was gifted by John Duke to his sister, Mary Frances Keble Coleridge (1825-1898). Size: Quarto.
