Volume I is lacking the portrait of Boccaccio but all other plates are correct. Illustrated by Gravelot, Eisen, Cochin the Younger, and Boucher, reduced and engraved by Vidal. The imprint is false, printed in Paris. Giovanni Boccaccio (In French Jean Bocace) was an Italian author, poet, and correspondent of Petrarch. Boccaccio wrote a number of notable works including the Decameron and On Famous Women. As a poet who wrote in the Italian vernacular, Boccaccio is particularly noted for his realistic dialogue, which differed from his contemporaries. In paper-covered boards.
