This four volume set (iii-vi/2) is the second half of the full Catalogue listing of the rare manuscripts held at the Strahovske Knihovny in Prague. Volumes iii-v list over 2,000 manuscripts and give full bibliographical descriptions of each item, while volume vi/2 is an author index to this list. Edited and compiled by Bohumil Ryba. Hardcover. Condition: As New. Leichte Kratzer / Abnutzungen / Druckstellen. Nejznamejsim Suetoniovym dilem jsou bezesporu jeho Zivotopisy cisaru (De vita Caesarum) o osmi knihach. Tuto knihu napsal Suetonius na vrcholu sve urednicke drahy v letech 115 - 120 n.l. a venoval ji prefektu pretorianske gardy Septiciovi Clarovi. V teto knize popisuje Suetonius cisare pocinaje Caesarem jakozto zakladatelem dynastie a konce Domitianem. Jsou nabity konkretnimi fakty a udaji o nejintimnejsich podrobnostech z jejich zivota. Pro velke mnozstvi detailu neni latka usporadana chronologicky, nybrz podle urciteho schematu, zahrnujiciho rozlicne stranky statnicke cinnosti i soukromeho zivota zobrazovane osoby. Tato forma Suetoniovy prace byva casto kritizovana pro svoji uroven "bulvarniho platku", ale zustava faktem, ze Zivotopisy cisaru byly a jsou velmi uspesnym dilem, ktere priblizilo bozske cisare prostemu lidu. Naslo si i velke mnozstvi pokracovatelu, jeho dilo se totiz stalo jakymsi vzorem pro autory biografii minimalne do stredoveku.
