Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. 6th Printing. Sixth printing 1948, first published in 1935. Very nice green cloth covered hardcover with tidy former owner's gift ded on frt pastedn. Spine ends barely bumped, tips still sharp. Facsimile dust wrapper is complete, un-clipped, lightly surface soiled and displays beautifully in new mylar. Not ex-lib, text tight and bright, lovely full page pencil sketches throughout. An ideal story for the small person just learning to ride, or even only longing to learn. On'y Tony, who has lived abroad most of his six years and knows nothing of the ordinary life of an English boy or girl in the country, is sent to stay with his godmother. She, so far from proving the witch-like being in pointed hat and long cloak a frightened little boy's imagination made of her, turns out to be the gayest and kindest of young persons and very soon Tony is happily learning to ride with the help of ponies Pickle and Crackers. His adventures in the home fields, out hunting with his friend Rupert, and with the three ponies - for a third and most treasured pony came with him in the train - have been illustrated in pencil by miss B. Turner.
