This book delves into the rich and vibrant history of Scottish saints, particularly those who were revered and celebrated in the centuries leading up to the Reformation. The author meticulously explores the lives and legends of these figures, drawing on a wealth of historical and literary sources, including the Aberdeen Breviary, a monumental work printed in the early 16th century. The Breviary provides a window into the rituals and beliefs of pre-Reformation Scotland, and the author uses it to reconstruct the lives of saints like Kentigern, Thenew, Servanus, and Columba, weaving together historical fact with captivating folklore and hagiography. The author not only recounts the lives of these saints, but also examines the cultural and religious impact they had on Scotland, exploring themes of faith, devotion, and the transmission of spiritual traditions. The book offers a unique and fascinating glimpse into a pivotal period in Scottish history and sheds light on the enduring influence of these saints on the nation's religious and cultural landscape. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.
