Leather. Condition: Very Good. With FOUR HAND-COLOURED PLATES. Both title page & frontispiece are hand-coloured, along with two additional plates (opposite pages 33 + 125). At least 9 different colours have been used (red, blue, aqua, green, yellow, orange, purple, pink, & brown). Text in French. Printed by Simon Blocquel (1780-1863). Full title & imprint details from title page as follows: "Nouvel Abrege du Voyageur Francais Dans Les Cinq Parties Du Monde. Ouvrage Contenant le portrait, le caractere, la religion, les moeurs, les costumes et les usages des principaux peuples de l'univers; les curiosites naturelles de divers pays, et les anecdotes les plus interessantes sur les contrees les moins connues de la terre; Dedie a la Jeunesse par Buqcello, S. Paris, Chez Delarue, Libraire. 1822. Lille, chez Castiaux, Lib. Imprimerie de Blocquel". Title literally translates as "New Summary of the French Traveller In the Five Parts of the world. Work Containing the portrait, the character, the religion, manners, the costumes and the uses of the principal people of the universe; natural curiosities of various countries, and the most interesting anecdotes on the least known regions of the ground". Small volume. Spine lettered with "Voyageur Francais". Front cover gilt-stamped with "Prix Institution Muron". Pagination checked & complete. Bound in full leather, gilt lettering & design to front cover & spine, gilt borders to both covers, all edges gilt, marbled endpapers, ribbon page marker. Wear to covers & tips, light foxing throughout, former owner's contemporary ink name to ffep, spine flaking, mild internal sporadic worming, otherwise a clean tight solid leatherbound copy. 330pp + 6pp table. Extremely RARE.

Reliure pleine basane d'époque, dos lisse doré et décoré, pages de garde marbrées. Bel exemplaire quoique le faux-titre a des tâches d'eau. Cette édition inconnu à Gumuchian.
