In this work he is trying to harmonizing the four Gospels and reconcile apparent discrepancies among the Gospel and providing explanations for unclear passages found within them. Georg Calixtus (Or Georg Calixt or Georg Callisen, 1586-1656), was a German Lutheran theologian and philosopher. He is best known for his attempts to reconcile Protestant denominations and for his efforts to bridge the gap between Protestantism and Catholicism during the post-Reformation era. His approach, known as syncretism, sought to find agreement among various Christian denominations on essential theological points while allowing for diversity in non-essential matters. However, Calixtus's views were controversial within the Lutheran community of his time. He faced opposition from more conservative theologians who viewed his efforts as compromising essential doctrines.
