Softcover. Condition: Gut. Sammelband Emblem-Kupferstiche --- Zeitgenössischer Sammelband von 35 Kupferstichen aus Augsburg. Anfangs sämtliche 14 Kupferstiche (alle altkoloriert) aus dem 1720 in Augsburg gedruckten Werk "Sapientiae symbolica, XIIII emblematibus prudentiae morumque praecepta, explicans virutis commendationi dicata = Emblematische Weissheits-Regeln, in XIIII Sinnbildern zur Erweckung der Liebe zur Tugend vorgestellet" von Antoine du Chaffat (hier nur der Titelkupfer fehlend), gestochen von J.A. Friedrich. Es folgen sieben Kupferstiche (davon zwei koloriert), die in veränderter Form und anderem Format im Werk "Triumphus amores = Die über den gantzen Erd-Cräiß Triumphirende Liebe in nachdencklichen Sinn-Bildern" (Augsburg 1698) auftauchen. Die letzten 13 Kupferstiche (alle unkoloriert) wurden ausgeschnitten und auf die Blätter dieses Buches montiert, davon drei aus dem Werk "Tapisseries du Roi, ou sont representez les quatre elemens et les quatre saisons = Königliche Französische Tapezereyen, oder überaus schöne Sinn-Bilder, in welchen Die vier Element, samt den Vier Jahr-Zeiten, Neben den Dencksprüchen u. ihren Außlegungen, vorgestellet werden" von Johann Ulrich Krauß (Augsburg 1709). --- Schöne Emblem-Kupferstiche, mit Barock-Ornamenten, Darstellung von Schiffen, wissenschaftlichen Geräten, Pferden, exotischen Tieren, Pflanzen etc. Augsburg um 1720 Pappband der Zeit (16,5 x 20,5 cm), mit Fragment eines Adel-Siegels auf dem Vorderdeckel. --- Zustand: Einband und Deckel schadhaft, Bindung gelockert, innen etwas fleckig und mit Wurmspur.

Condition: Ausreichend. Halbleinen Das Werk Chaffats ist ein illustriertes Moralbuch in 14 Sinnbildern mit deutschem und lateinischem Text um 1720. Chaffat war ein im süddeutschen Raum tätiger französischer Kartograph, Ingenieur und Kupferstecher während der ersten Hälfte des 18. Jahrhunderts. Der vorliegende Band enthält nur die Praecepta VI-XIV, wobei die Fragmente der Originalblätter auf neuere Unterlagen montiert wurden. Von den 9 Blättern sind 4 mit der Originalillustration erhalten, bei Nr. VI. in Teilen. Von den restlichen Blättern existiert nur der Text, teilweise mit geringfügigem Textverlust. Die Titelseite fehlt. Der Einband könnte aus der Zeit um 1900 stammen und ist stark berieben. Das Buch stammt aus dem Besitz von Otto von Saldern (Brallentin), der in der maschinengeschriebenen Vorbemerkung aus dem Jahre 1939 Vermutungen zur Herkunft des Buches anstellt. Lt. seiner Anmerkung könnte das Buch im Besitz von Baronin v. Eckardstein geb. Freiin von Loen gewesen sein. Sprache / Language: de 9 Seiten. ca. 25,7 x 17,3 cm.

A copper engraved map, sea coloured green, coloured cartouche in lower right corner. Compass rose & several sailing ships. Imprint within cartouche: Editus eac Originali Petropolitano per Antony du Chaffat. Plate size is 65cm x 48cm, on a sheet measuring 68cm x 51cm; the upper edge is trimmed very close to the plate line. Verso is blank. Some yellow marks from old tape repairs on verso, a few short marginal tears, a closed tear near the left edge affecting the open sea; a clean very good copy in general. Versions of this map were issued by numerous cartographers including Ottens, Covens & Mortier, L'Isle, and Frauendorff. A map of the Ukraine, Crimea, and the Black Sea, showing details of the Russo-Turkish war; there are many small letters and numbers present on the map which would have related to a separately-printed key, not present here.
