Pages remain bright with minimal tanning and foxing. Heavier to text block edges. Text is clear. Thumb-marking present. Binding remains firm. Boards have mild edge-wear with bumping to corners. Annotations to pages throughout. Visible tanning to spine and edges with crushing to spine ends. Unclipped jacket. Panels have heavy edge wear with some areas of loss as previously stated, tears, chips, and creasing.

Ward Lock's practice with slow-selling titles of this period was to reissue the spare/unsold sheets in a cheaper binding (no gilt) and to clip and reduce the price on the jacket, which then had a series.

Beautiful clipped dust-jacket designed by Nina Miller Davidson. Some mild wear to spine ends and tips. A hint of rubbing. Still fresh and bright with no chipping, creases or tears.
