This was published during a several-year time period when the Sierra Club did not stipulate the month of an issue, just the volume, the number, and the year - monthly designations for such an infrequent publication having always been somewhat unnecessary in any case. Original printed wrappers, 9 1/4" x 6 1/4", 115 pp. + numerous unpaginated photographic plates, features and ads, including a fold-out map (Grouse Meadows to Vidette Meadow) and a fold-out wide-angle photograph by W.H. Wright. Gray stapled wraps, rather than the usual medium brown. Very Good; circuit binding (yapp binding) was used, in which cover edges were intentionally extended out beyond page edges, but over time the extended part becomes pressed inward somewhat (see scan). Some damage at inside front hinge area, and some spine sunning and abrasion. A handsome copy. See scans. Binding sturdy, contents fine. Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Octavo. Measuring 9.5" x 7". Flexible brown leather with "Photographs" stamped in gilt on the front board. A collection of 60 sepia toned or black and white photographs affixed to stiff black paper measuring between 2.25" x 3.25" and 3.5" x 5.5", some with captions. Album is about very good with chipping, tears, and detached pages with near fine photographs. A photo album compiled by J.K. Chase containing 50 photographs depicting New Jersey and New York around 1913 and an additional 10 photographs at the end of the album from a trip to Canada in 1927. The section of 1913 photographs shows family and friends posing at various places in New York State, Washington and Warren Streets in New York City and Clinton on the Hudson and Central, and Northern New Jersey, including beaches such as Asbury Park and Pleasure Bay. Some photos show leisure activities, a woman lying in a hammock, another shows the same woman in full dress posing on the beach as well as a view of the Hudson River from the Speedway. The last portion of the album is used to house 10 photos taken during a trip to Canada in 1927. These photos are all captioned and feature the landscape of Canada including Lake George, Mount Washington, Ausable River and Falls, the Saint Lawrence River, and the Mountains at Magog, Quebec. An interesting group of early 20 Century snapshots of leisure time and vacationing in New York, New Jersey, and Canada. …
