Broschur. Condition: Sehr gut. 16 Seiten, zahlr. farb. Abb. Sehr gutes Exemplar. Sprache: Tschechisch und Englisch. / EN: Very good copy. Language: Czech and english. / Jesuits, Elephants, Penguins Play as a Source of Emancipation. His pictures seem to be simple, even childish. They contain elephants and penguins, but also kings, snakes and dragons - just like the sun, which is almost always included in children's drawings. However, what about monks or the Grim Reaper? The Grim Reaper appears in a black robe on Marek Cihal's painting, 4x3 metres large, painted for the Baroque room of the former Jesuit college in Kutna Hora. In one hand a sickle, in the other a red cord attached to a dragon with a long tail that he pulls behind him. The dragon rears up in resistance, but in the end yields to the death sentence of the Grim Reaper, who seems to want to quickly disappear somewhere on the horizon. Disappear? Under the figure of death, there is a weary king with a crown and tne face of a hare, accompanied by the remainder of his warriors. Among them, two calmly strutting penguins and a snake approach with curiosity a cross, which a monk dressed in red is carrying in front of himself. This monk leads a group of other monks and Jesuits dressed in brown cassocks, who victoriously and somewhat ominously advance forward accompanied by elephants. We see the crosses - symbols of Christianity - on the chests of the figures marching in a determined fashion: the crosses are even planted throughout the countryside as the figures pass by. Everything is glimmering with the silver sheen of the sun. Or perhaps the moon? cs Gewicht in Gramm: 550.
