Fifth edition (the first edition was in 1886). xi, 168pp. The Incorporation of Bonnetmakers and Dyers of Glasgow is a historical guild that was established to regulate the practices and standards of bonnet making and dyeing, ensuring quality and fair trade among its members. The first edition appeared in 1886, and this fifth edition has been updated to include new and historical events relating to the Incorporation together with a list of members and their addresses. The book is bound in the original blue cloth covered boards with gold titling and gold emblem of the Incorporation on the front board. The case of the book is in very good condition with shelf wear and some light soiling to the boards. There is some creasing in the cloth near the bottom corner of the front board, but this appears to be a manufacturing fault rather than damage from handling. The spine ends are lightly bumped and there is a little bit of fraying to the cloth on the corner tips. The contents are tight and clean with a presentation letter from the Clerk of the Incorporation attached to the rear fixed endpaper. There is no inscription. SIGNED COPY.
