Condition: Very good. First Edition. 8vo. Color frontispiece portrait of Ignatius Meurer (1589-1672), 16, 48 pp., 62 plates (9 folding). Original boards, gilt vellum spine (slightly palm soiled, corners bumped). A celebration of early Swedish books, issued on the occasion of the 450th anniversary of the introduction of the art of printing in Sweden. The essential catalogue of an important exhibition held from December 1933 to May 1934, in which appeared 265 items of national interest. More than half of the present volume consists of full-page plates (62) of printed books that date mainly from the fifteenth to the seventeenth century (the "newest" book is dated 1795). Presentation copy from the compiler Isak Collijn to his friend Martin Breslauer, inscribed on the occasion of the latter's visit to the Royal Library in September, 1936. From the famed Bibliotheca Bibliographica Breslaueriana (sale at Christies NY, 2005, lot 1249), with B.H. Breslauer's circled accession number in pencil on the first blank.
